AHIS 102 - Intro to Visual Culture I
This course is an introduction to different ways of understanding and communicating the many ideas that constitute our visual culture. Students will develop visual and conceptual skills essential to the analysis, understanding, and communication of ideas about visual forms. In addition to preparing students for subsequent more specialized courses, this course examines the historical relationship between visual work and the social context in which it is created in order to foster a greater critical and cultural awareness of art-making.

ENGL 110 - Approaches to Literature
Study of selected examples of poetry, fiction, and drama.

FILM 100 - Introduction to Film Studies
Basic aesthetic, economic, sociological, and technological aspects of film

FILM 220 - Hollywood Cinema 1930-1960
Analysis of the aesthetics, economics, history and technological characteristics of the Classical Hollywood period.

FNDT 106 - Drawing and 2-D Language
This course introduces students to the methods, materials, and concepts of drawing, both as a visual language and as a tool for enhancing perceptual awareness. While investigating process and developing a critical vocabulary, students will begin to acquire the skills to translate immediate observation and ideas into two-dimensional form.

FMST 200 - Introduction to Family Studies
A developmental approach, focusing on individual development in families, internal dynamics of family life, and the place of the family in North American society.

GEOG 103 - Introduction to Physical Geography: Landforms and Vegetation
Physical and biological processes governing landforms, soils and vegetation on Earth. Biogeochemical cycles and budgets; human impacts.

HIST 135 - The History of Canada
Some of the principal events in Canadian history and the various interpretations of them.

POLI 101 - The Government of Canada
An examination of the institutions and processes of Canadian government.

THTR 120 - Introduction to Theatre
Theory and practice of the theatrical arts; the development of Western theatre; reading of representative plays.

THTR 150 - Introduction to Technical Theatre
Foundation study of the technical aspects of theatre production.

WMST 100 - Introduction to Women's Studies
An interdisciplinary exploration of the situation of women in Canadian society, both past and present. Theoretical analyses, research, and literary sources are used to broaden understanding of the determinants of women's experience, with a focus on the Canadian Context.
